Thank you all for your comments and I appreciate everyone’s comments and concerns… but I think it is very important that I clarify my definition of “detox” as I think I might have used the term very loosely and have given the wrong impression of my intentions. In the next 2-3 weeks, pre and during the program, I will be eating very similar to how I am eating now with a couple minor changes… I won’t be consuming any dairy and I will be cutting out refined sugars… i.e. cakes, cookies, etc., but sweets like dates and agave are still on the menu. My goal is NOT to lose weight, I will actually be eating enough calories to maintain my weight and I will be logging my food on Myfooddiary.com to make sure I am getting enough calories, protein, calcium, Iron, Fat and Vitamins and will discuss the results here. The main reason I chose this program is to find hidden allergies using the process of elimination (noting gluten) and to compare my diet to a vegan diet. My plan for the 10 day program is to blog about my mood and energy and will also post the amount of Calories, Fat, Protein, Iron, Calcium, Vitamin A & C, Sodium and Sugar that I consume daily, here is today’s totals;

I will continue with my workout and training for the MS-150.

I went to bed at 8 PM last night… I really needed a good night of sleep. This morning at the gym I did 20 min stair master and 20 min of abs… Tomorrow is spin day with one of my favorite instructors but since the class gets packed I need to be on a bike by 5 AM which means I am going to bed here in a little bit.
I got home from work craving a big Salad… So I made a big Salad with Orange-Walnut Dressing….

The salad included; Baby spinach topped with shreded red cabbage & Carrots, avocado, beets, Brussels sprouts, grape tomatoes, green peppers and red onion.
Orange-Walnut Dressing
- Juice of 0.5 Orange
- Juice of 0.5 Lime
- 1 tbsp Walnut oil
- Zest of Orange and Lime

When you mentioned “detox” I knew what you meant! I don’t think Gena would encourage starvation

I understood what you meant by a cleanse. Sometimes, the only way to identify food intolerances is to remove any possible allergens and then add them back in one by one. I will be curious to see how your cleanse affects your mood and your body.
Mmmm…those beets look delicious! Great, clean salad!
That salad does look incredible!
that salad is beautiful!
That salad is just GORGEOUS! Love all the colors!
I hear you on the spin classes! I went to my first spin class of the year this morning thinking I was about 10 minutes early and I should be good, I got the second to last bike. Spinners are hardcore in the early hours!! But man it felt good to do it and have my workout done for the day!

You have committed to quite the food plan . . . GOOD LUCK with your detox. That’s what I usually mean by detox too. Take out the refined sugars, processed ingredients, etc. I’ve never done like a juice detox or anything like that.
Wow, what a great and healthy blog you have here. Its awesome! Love the salad dressing too – anything with walnut oil is so delicious. Thanks also for that superfoods post, a very handy list.
Wishing you luck on your detox!

Bravo Gelareh on your goals. I trust you will find your answers. Your food presentation is wonderful. Honestly it looks like something out of a magazine. Also, I am so glad you have MyFoodDiary.com to monitor yourself on your detox.
You have the best of both worlds. You can detox and make sure you are balanced in the process.
